Exploring spaces
Intensive acting workshop

18-19-20 February 2019

The aim of this workshop was to expand our imagination and explore different creative possibilities to convey a story and to give life to a space, physically and acustically. The group of participants was composed of theatre artists, theatre students and theatre lovers.  Through games, exercises and improvisations we worked on the actor’s main tool: the body. The Art Room Project welcomed us at Cabral Yard, and its members facilitated our access to all the other Biennale venues. Our group could thus nurture itself by observing different installations, by exploring the acoustic and physical possibilities offered by the different spaces and by working on improvisations in different circumstances and with an improvised audience. Furthermore, the evolution of the artist’s work in a particular context was an important part of this workshop. At the end of this three-day exploration, the participants offered a performance at Cabral Yard. Taking the form of a Biennale installation the performers surrounded us and gave life to Fragmented, based on Sarah Kane’s 4.48 Psychosis, sharing with the Biennale the theme of ‘Non-Alienation’.
